Red Delicious

Casting around for a small still-life idea I realised how many different types of apple we have in our house. Everyone has different favourite varieties. The Red Delicious is my daughter, Emily’s, favourite. And here it is!

Low tide at Saunton Sands

I have been working on this quite dark seascape from sketches made during our trip to North Devon at half term. Saunton Sands is a huge stretch of beach, particularly at low tide and I was drawn to the amazing reflections in the wet sand. It is quite a big painting and currently unframed, I will get it framed in a dark stained wood. In photograph, the painting looks quite monochrome but it in fact has a lot of colours in it.

October light in Wimbledon Common wood

I first painted this view in February with the light coming from a different direction and with far fewer leaves on the trees. It is a path I walk up often on dog walks and I love the way the light seems to pour down the hill.

This is currently unframed but I plan to frame it in a dark ‘hover’ frame. It is painted on a linen canvas.
