I treat the portrait work of animals in the same way that I would paint a portrait of a person. I prefer to concentrate on the bust to convey the true character of the sitter – the eyes being the most important part. I tend to start with very thin layers building up to a light impasto texture.
Please do contact me if you would like a portrait. Prices start from £425. With a commission I prefer to meet the sitter (be they canine or human) and make some sketches and take some photographs. I would then work on the main piece in my studio. I would always keep you up to date with the painting over its progress.
