Willy Lot's Cottage, 100x80cm oil on canvas
Meteorological Spring starts today, things are looking up! I have been busy in the studio and Common Works Gallery projects like Art in the Park 2025 taking place in September.
Above is a picture of quite a big canvas I have been working on which is painted from the same spot as Constable painted the Haywain. My brother and his family live very near there, and it is such a gorgeous spot, I had to paint it albeit in Winter and with much higher water. As a tribute to Constable I have hidden his dog in the painting too.
Here is me at the spot carrying my divine nephew.
Exhibitions to see in London this month
Goya to Impressionism: The Oskar Reinhart collection is the hot ticket right now. It is on loan to the Courtauld whilst its Swiss home is being refurbished. Reinhart was a contemporary of Samuel Courtauld, both very successful men with great taste in art and the drive to share their collections. They were the OG influencers. They didn't just have a great eye, they are the reason we think that art is great. Courtauld Gallery until 26May
The Face Magazine: Culture Shift celebrates British culture in the 1990s with all its brash, loud, fun over the top enthusiasm. With over 200 photographs from 80 photographers as well as articles, interviews and music, we see what an influcene the magazine had on fashion photography as well. If you came of age in the 1990s (like me) you won't want to miss this. National Portrait Gallery until 18 May

Leigh Bowery! at Tate Modern is another exhibition harking back to Britain in the 80's/90's (odd that there seem to be so many this year?!). This time it is all about artist/ model/ performer/ musician and generally bonkers creative person, Leigh Bowery. This show looks at the extremes that Bowery reached in every aspect of his life - particularly the drug-fuelled club scene. Maybe not one to take your young children or elderley parents to... Tate Modern until 31 Aug

Lives Less Ordinary: Working class Britain reseen aims to reevaluate working class representation within post-war British Art. There is photography, painting, sculpture showing and one of the real treats is going into this fabulous building which hasn't been on my radar before. Gorgeous and free. Two Temple Place until 20 April
Ayrmer Cove, South Devon. 50x40cm oil on canvas
